Rustic and Imperfect Art Pieces
We are a husband-and-wife collaboration. I am a ceramicist and my husband Pete is a metalworker. We combine natural forms with an industrial hand-wrought sensibility to create modern mixed-media vessels.
Pete draws his inspiration from a lifetime exposure to industrial processes and projects in transportation and aerospace related roles. This connection to all things industrial combined with a deep appreciation for old world artifacts encountered in museums and travel inspires sculptures using discarded or remnant pieces of copper, steel, and aluminum giving them new purpose and life.
My work is inspired by natural forms. My larger pieces are paddled and dry thrown which adds to the organic nature of the pieces. For Pete, the larger pieces increased the opportunities to be more creative and expand upon the metalwork processes and content.
